Oh yes... I am a huge fan of Jeremy Soule's work, and I feel that a well written soundtrack can improve a game's playing experience a thousandfold. He is a modern benchmark for aspiring composers to study, emulate and perhaps even idolise.

That being said, I do feel that a bit more could have been done with the soundtrack in places. Prophecies is just great, especially with the extra sound paks, so I'll leave that at that. Factions started to get a little repetitive. Without the bonus tracks, you only hear *one* backing track while in the Kaineng City area that just loops over and over, which makes it rather boring, and that's not the only area in Cantha where there's a lack of variety. Nightfall got back on track with a much more epic sounding soundtrack, although I feel that the sudden spikes of dramatic music during combat were a little sloppily implemented (though I can live with the dramatic music in there - it does add something extra, even if it can sometimes start after combat is finished).

I'm really looking forward to the Eye of the North soundtrack. I know Soule is going to come up with something wonderfully new and fresh, and I already have a formal letter of complaint to ANet drafted if they recycle old music from previous campaigns.

Vrenna is a God. Also, Alice was one of the best games I have ever played in my life.

Amazing soundtrack was also in Fallout 1 and 2, Mark Morgan really did awesome job.... Not to mention Deus Ex, or System Shock 2 soundtracks. Real gems.

J. Soule is not really my cup of tea, but he made some amazing pieces to Guild Wars as well. Especially Proph and Factions opening tracks. Of course, after two years of playing the game I have music turned off

I actually wouldn't mind some recycled pre-Searing music for the Charr homelands in GW:EN.

The music for the game is not bad at all, but I very much prefer the work of Nobuo Uematsu (the composer of most of the Final Fantasy game music) over the Guild Wars soundtrack. The sheer power of his work is astounding. I would love it if Guild Wars had some music of the same vein as "Dancing Mad" and "Suteki da ne."

But then, I have always been fond of Latin chants during battles and other interesting instrument mixtures.

I enjoyed the music in pre-searing a lot. I thought it was a nice companion to the flow of the story. But then one day I left Winamp running in the background and I found my own collection of mp3's much more enjoyable. So truth be told, I haven't even heard the soundtracks from either Factions or Nightfall, but I can tell you that playing Tombs while listening to the new Queens of the Stone Age album is great fun.

I never really payed much attention to it. However the battle music in Nightfall was nice. I think it was the same music that they have during rollerbeetle racing. Could be wrong but whatever.

Other then that nothing really pops out at me right now. After playing so long usualy i'm tempted to play with my own music, but I like to hear when i'm getting attacked. I know I can see it, but I hate spending more time watching my health bar, then looking at the scenery. Which is one of the 3 reasons I don't play a monk.

Prophecies and Factions' soundtracks were kind of weak, in my opinion. Nothing in particular that was intense; it was all atmospheric. Kinda hard to get in the mood to be fighting infected monstrosities in the slums when there are chimes and bells in the background and nothing else. (I don't know how to describe the track, honestly.)

However, the Sorrow's Furnace pack had some awesome tracks in it that made fighting stuff in Grenth's Footprint more welcome. Some of the Jade Sea areas reminded me of the calmer locations of Jet Force Gemini which was nice...But there was still a lot of intense fighting going on, so stronger music really helps.

Nightfall, however, fixed this for me. The dynamic music triggered by aggro was a HUGE bonus and the tracks outside of battle were pretty nice, too. Not really atmospheric, more what you'd expect in a tribal or market environment.

The Soothing Music rocks.

The combat music sucks..

It also bugs me that there's no boss music in GW. It's a little thing but it's one of my favorite parts of a video game

I love the music! :-) always play with vent/ts OFF when I start a new chapter etc, just to soak up the atmosphere and the music.

After a bit I turn it off and get on ts/vent. Or I listen to my own stuff. Or I turn off GW music and make a giiiiiiant playlist of jeremy soule and lotr music and play that

Cant wait for the GW:EN soundtrack to be realsed on directong ;p

Music can really enhance gameplay. Some people like a games' music and some prefer playing something on their computer in the background.

In Everquest 2 they give you a music folder where you can put your own music to replace the in game music. It's one of the features I'd really wish Anet would consider for GW2.

As for the type of music I'd like to see in the future in GW or GW2 please go to this site http://www.esposthumus.com/ and select the Pompeii soundtrack. Really epic sounding music does so much to enhance any RPG game experience!

BTW, when I first heard the music in the Elonian startup screen I got goosebumps.

Just for fun so far my favourite video game music tracks are EQ2 Stormhold (gives me shivers!), Darklight Palace and Runnyeye, Fable's Guild Day and Night tracks and Fable's Temple of Skorm track. Super fun.

I LOVE the background murmering music to Kaineng City. It's amazing - and UBER relaxing to listen to.

I'm also a fan of music in the Echivold Forest, Sorrows Furnace and Istan...also when a battle breaks out in Elona, the Battle Music is cool.
